The "Mother Road" a.k.a. Route 66 was established in 1926, just as the automobile was becoming commonplace in America. It runs 2,500 miles from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California. This asphalt and concrete road traveled east to west through St. James, Rolla, and Doolittle in Phelps County.
This museum is completely run by homegrown historians who have a deep love of Route 66 and everything that surrounds it. Their purpose is to keep that love alive. The world is always changing. History is torn away to make space for car washes and convenience stores. But what about the beauty that once was there?
We need your help. Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goal of keeping history alive. Your generous donation will help fund our mission
